Workshops

Welcome to the range of sewing classes that I offer!

While I receive many inquiries about classes, it's important to note that, at the moment, I offer a range of engaging classes in other locations (not at the Brighton sewing centre studio).

Whether you're a beginner eager to master the basics or an experienced seamstress looking to refine your skills, here are some classes on offer in Brighton:

Mondays and Tuesday afternoons at The Brighton and Hove Adult education Hub - https://adulteducation.brighton-hove.gov.uk/
Courses cost £150 for 13 weeks but you will be able to enrol on a course for free if you meet the following criteria:

  • Fullfil the residency eligibility requirements set out by the Education and Skills Funding Agency
  • Be resident in Brighton and Hove
  • Be 19 years old or over at the start date of the course
  • Be unemployed and receive a mean tested state benefit or be employed and earn less than £20,319 gross annual salary

Introduction to Sustainable Fashion and Textiles - Mondays 1pm - 3.30pm, next start date available Monday 9th September 2024.

The main focus is not only on developing your sewing skills but also on empowering you with the knowledge and skills needed to craft and advocate for environmentally friendly and socially responsible fashion and textile products. This course fosters a holistic perspective on sustainability, delving into the lifecycle of clothing and textiles – from design and production to the broader realms of consumption and disposal. Join us in making a positive impact on the world of textiles while embracing a more sustainable and mindful approach to creativity.

Dressmaking 101 - Tuesdays 1pm - 3.30pm, next start date available Tuesday 10th September 2024.

This inclusive class is designed for individuals with different skill levels. Whether you're a beginner with some sewing experience or an intermediate sewer looking to expand your knowledge, this course provides a space for learning. Tailor clothing for personal use or simply enjoy a new creative hobby. This class aims to equip you with the skills and confidence needed to refine your expertise, guiding you through the art of transforming clothing to achieve a perfect fit and making necessary repairs.

Join us for a practical and hands-on experience that emphasizes skill development and creativity.

Wednesday mornings in the Jubilee Library, BrightonSewing with NIWBH

We meet every Wednesday morning in the Jubilee Library from 10am, where we learn new skills and socialise with other Network of International women for Brighton and Hove members (NIWBH). We are about to start a new project in January 2024 and I will be teaching hand sewing and embroidery techniques and assisting the group to make a banner for other Libraries in Brighton, similar to the Jubilee Library of Sanctuary banner that was created in 2019 as seen here.

Feel free to reach out for more details, or to secure your spot in one of the Hub classes, please email aeh@brighton-hove.gov.uk or see their website https://adulteducation.brighton-hove.gov.uk/contact-us/

For more info on the Wednesday morning meetings in the library please email info@niwbh.org

I look forward to stitching with you and learning together!
