Welcome to the range of sewing classes that we offer!

While we receive many inquiries about classes, at the moment, we only offer a group meet up on Monday nights in Hove. The other classes on offer are in another location in Brighton.

Share Skills • Swap Ideas

Join a vibrant community of sewing, knitting, and crochet enthusiasts in a fully equipped sewing studio in Hove! If you're a beginner or an experienced maker, this is a space to share skills, swap ideas, and inspire each other. Bring your project, enjoy a cuppa (and biscuits, of course), and get stitching!

Whether you're a beginner eager to master the basics or an experienced seamstress looking to refine your skills, here are some classes on offer in Brighton:

Mondays and Tuesday afternoons at The Brighton and Hove Adult education Hub - https://adulteducation.brighton-hove.gov.uk/
Courses cost £150 for 13 weeks but you will be able to enrol on a course for free if you meet the following criteria:

  • Fullfil the residency eligibility requirements set out by the Education and Skills Funding Agency
  • Be resident in Brighton and Hove
  • Be 19 years old or over at the start date of the course
  • Be unemployed and receive a mean tested state benefit or be employed and earn less than £20,319 gross annual salary

Introduction to Sustainable Fashion and Textiles - Mondays 1pm - 3.30pm, next start date available Monday 9th September 2024.

The main focus is not only on developing your sewing skills but also on empowering you with the knowledge and skills needed to craft and advocate for environmentally friendly and socially responsible fashion and textile products. This course fosters a holistic perspective on sustainability, delving into the lifecycle of clothing and textiles – from design and production to the broader realms of consumption and disposal. Join us in making a positive impact on the world of textiles while embracing a more sustainable and mindful approach to creativity.

Dressmaking 101 - Tuesdays 1pm - 3.30pm, next start date available Tuesday 10th September 2024.

This inclusive class is designed for individuals with different skill levels. Whether you're a beginner with some sewing experience or an intermediate sewer looking to expand your knowledge, this course provides a space for learning. Tailor clothing for personal use or simply enjoy a new creative hobby. This class aims to equip you with the skills and confidence needed to refine your expertise, guiding you through the art of transforming clothing to achieve a perfect fit and making necessary repairs.

Join us for a practical and hands-on experience that emphasizes skill development and creativity.
